first_imgThe squad of 2014DONEGAL Ladies U14s took to the field at St Mary’s in Convoy on Saturday, most making their competitive debut for their county. And for most of the game against Antrim it looked like it could be a winning debut. But it wasn’t to be. Donegal led 2-07 to 2-04 at half-time but would later rue many missed opportunities in the first half when Antrim scored goals late on to win 5-09 to 2-10.Next Sunday it’s a trip to Down for the girls.    LGFA NEWS: PICTURE SPECIAL AS DONEGAL U14s MAKE DEBUT was last modified: April 6th, 2014 by John2Share this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:AntrimconvoydonegalLadiesLGFAU14’slast_img read more

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY! HOW TO SPOIL YOUR DAD IN DONEGAL TODAY!

first_imgFanad Lighthouse. It’s Father’s Day today and dads across Donegal will be getting some special treatment from their children (and perhaps wives!). Some will get breakfast in bed or handmade cards. Others will get that all important phonecall from a son or daughter in Australia or somewhere else around the globe. The most important thing is that we think of our dads and perhaps tell them how much they mean to us. We at Donegal Daily thought we’d compile a few suggestions of how you could make the day special with dad in Donegal.* A walk to the castle! The walk to Glenveagh Castle from the visitor’s car park is stunning. You can also walk back or get the bus. With the lake on your right and the castle to your front, there is no finer scenery. For an extra treat, get some hot chocolate and cons in the castle tearooms. * Take in a GAA game. There are plenty of games taking place but the game between Gaoth Dobhair and Glenswilly (throw-in 3pm in Magheragallon) will not disappoint. There will be no Murphy or McGees because of the Ulster Championship, but there will be no holding back.* Light up his day! It may not be open just yet but a drive to Fanad Lighthouse will blow away the cobwebs. Call into the Lighthouse Tavern on the way back for a pint and a chat.* The rally! It’s not everyone’s cup of tea and it’s amazing how many Donegal people have never taken in the Donegal Rally. Today is the last day of the three day event so you could always take in a stage but listen to marshals about safe places to stand and park.* Take to the beach. Donegal has some of the best beaches in the world. From Rossnowlagh, to Fanad, To Five Finger Strand. Wrap up and tell your dad how cool, annoying, funny, serious, boring, mental, frustrating, impatient, embarrassing he is. Just tell him because he’s your dad and he won’t always be around. * For those not in Donegal, phone your dad and make a date to do any of the above together – of even something completely different.Donegal dads – up here they’re different! The beautiful Carrickfin Beach is well worth a walk on with your dad today.HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!
