Alleged Bay Shore Gunman Shot, Killed by Police

first_imgSign up for our COVID-19 newsletter to stay up-to-date on the latest coronavirus news throughout New York A Suffolk County police officer shot and killed a 27-year-old man who allegedly ran from a traffic stop before pulling out a handgun in Bay Shore shortly after midnight Friday, authorities said.Andres Morales of Bay Shore was a front-seat passenger in a vehicle that two officers stopped for traffic violations on Howells Road when Morales fled on foot and one of the officers gave chase, police said.“There was a confrontation between Morales and the officer and Morales displayed a handgun,” police said in a news release.That’s when police said the officer, whose name was not released, fired two rounds, striking Morales twice in the abdomen.
