first_imgTellus Border Project Gold Map of Donegal – Released October 2013Prospecting licences were today awarded for gold mining in Stranorlar. The board of Connemara Mining Company plc were awarded ten licences to investigate gold, silver and base metals in a 413km² area of the Stranorlar region. They plan to concentrate on gold.Conemara’s geologists chose to explore Donegal as reports show that the ground shows certain abnormalities that suggest a presence of gold. The geology of the county also shares similarities Tyrone, where major gold discoveries have occured. The ‘Tellus Border Project’ last month produced an extensive map showing new areas in Donegal with gold deposits. These findings have given support to Donegal’s gold mining potential.Connemara Mining Company plc now plan to take geophysical and geochemical samples of the Stranorlar area.Chairman John Teeling said “The geology of Donegal lies within the highly prospective Dalradian terrane which is also home to the Curraghinalt Gold Deposit in Northern Ireland and the Cononish Mine in Scotland. Traces of gold have been discovered in earlier exploration in Donegal. We were delighted that the Tellus data issued in recent days re-enforces our findings. This is early stage prospecting but the potential is good.”  by Rachel McLaughlin   MINING COMPANY HOPING TO STRIKE GOLD IN STRANORLAR was last modified: November 5th, 2013 by Rachel McLaughlinShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Connemara Mining Company plcGoldStranorlarTELLUSlast_img read more
