New officers, members picked for board

first_imgThe Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation board recently elected two new officers and three new community board members. The new officers and community board members will begin their terms at the annual foundation board meeting on April 12. The board’s new officers include: New chair-elect – Linda Hafizi (publisher of The Magazine of Santa Clarita and elite Magazine) New secretary – Larry Mankin (president and CEO of the Santa Clarita Valley Chamber of Commerce) Hafizi said she looks forward to her new position as chair-elect. “As a longtime supporter of Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, I am pleased to accept the position of chair-elect,” Hafizi said. “The hospital has always been a priority for me. There are many new and exciting future plans for the hospital, and I feel incredibly lucky to be involved and to be in a position to help make them happen. I see this as an opportunity by which I can make a contribution to the continued success of the hospital foundation.” Mankin, who served as a community board member in 2005 and 2006, stated that he is proud to have been nominated and selected as an officer of the foundation board. “I’m delighted and honored to serve on our own local hospital foundation board and I am looking forward to bringing some additional business contacts to the hospital foundation,” Mankin said. The board’s three new community board members include: Timothy Borruel (founder and executive director, Sunshine Child Care and Learning Centers throughout Santa Clarita, and founder and superintendent, Legacy Private Academy in Valencia) Scott Zimmerman (president, American Insurance Network Inc., located in Encino and Valencia) Trudy Emeterio (president, Schwartz Oil Company Inc. in Valencia) Borruel said he looks forward to serving on the foundation board and working alongside its distinguished members. “As an advocate of high-quality health care in the Santa Clarita Valley, it is an honor to join the Foundation Board and partake in both the Henry Mayo Health Foundation’s philanthropic endeavors and the hospital’s continued mission to provide the best possible health care for our community,” Borruel said. Zimmerman stated that he was thrilled to become a new member of the foundation board. “As a Stevenson Ranch resident of 10 years, I look forward to being a member of this distinguished board, which strives to raise funds to ensure that our local hospital provides our growing Santa Clarita Valley community with the best possible medical care,” Zimmerman said. Emeterio said she was delighted to become a member of the foundation board. “As a longtime member of the Santa Clarita Valley community, I have always thought highly of Henry Mayo,” Emeterio said. “I have volunteered at Henry Mayo’s Emergency Department for the past 12 years and becoming a member of the hospital’s foundation board is an honor.” Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Health Foundation President Diana Vose said she was delighted with the new board officers and proud to welcome the newest members of the board. “We are blessed with the participation of true community leaders whose leadership of the foundation board includes the stellar commitment of raising vital funding for our community hospital,” Vose said. “We are pleased to welcome three new members who will join in our philanthropic efforts.” Foundation board officers serve one-year terms and community board members serve three-year terms.
